Fixed whole blood, stable for 2.5 years: new spectral flow panels built on the Cytodelics workflow

29.10.2026

Researchers at the Allen Institute in Seattle have published high-dimensional spectral flow cytometry panels for fixed whole blood in Cytometry Part A, and the whole pipeline is built on Cytodelics products.

Blood was mixed 1:1 with the Cytodelics Whole Blood Stabiliser and frozen at −80 °C straight after collection. Later, the samples were processed with the Cytodelics Whole Blood Processing Kit and stained with a 36-marker lymphoid panel and a 35-marker myeloid panel. Fresh and fixed blood gave consistent identification of the major immune populations. In a long-term test, blood from a healthy donor stored in the Stabiliser for up to two and a half years kept a stable immune profile.

For longitudinal clinical studies, this means that samples can be stabilised at collection, stored, and measured later in one batch. Read the paper
